ELECTRIC POWER STEERING INSTRUCTIONS

’57-’60 F100, F250, F350 TWO WHEEL DRIVE


Step 1: REMOVE OLD STEERING COMPONENTS

  • Remove /discount battery man arm
  • REMOVE STEERING COLUMN AND GEARBOX
  • REMOVE SHOCK ON DRIVERS’ SIDE AND UPPER AND LOWER SHOCK BRACKETS. (SHOCK WILL BE RELOCATED BEHIND AXLE)

STEP 2: DISASSEMBLE AND MODIFY STEERING COLUMN

  • CUT STEERING COLUMN OUTTER SLEEVE  30 ¾” INCHES FROM TOP.
  • CUT STEERING SHAFT 33 ¼” INCHES OVERALL LENGTH.
  • WELD SUPPLIED DOUBLE “D” INSERT ONTO BOTTOM OF STEERING SHAFT.

Step 3: GEARBOX INSTALLATION

  • INSTALL COLUMN USING FLOOR BRACKET PLATE.
  • LOCATE AND DRILL HOLES IN FRAME FOR EPS BRACKET AND NEW GEARBOX.
  • INSTALL GEAR BOX AND SHORT U-JOINT. (DO NOT TIGHTEN BOLTS YET TO ALLOW FOR THE ALIGNMENT OF EPS UNIT)
  • INSTALL EPS UNIT AND ITS BRACKET.
  • INSTALL LONG SHAFT FROM EPS UNIT TO STEERING COLUMN.
  • TIGHTEN MOUNTING BOLTS AND SET SCREWS WITH JAM NUTS.
  • INSTALL PITMAN ARM ONTO GEARBOX. (USE ALIGNMENT MARKS)

STEP 4: DRAGLINK INSTALL

  • INSTALL DRAGLINK AND SUPPLIED BOLTS AND SPACERS.
  • DRAGLINK MUST BE ADJUSTED TO A LEVEL POSITION WITH VEHICLE WEIGHT ON SUSPENSION.
  • USE SUPPLIED BOLTS AND SPACERS TO Achieve Level POSITION. (THIS WILL HELP ELIMINATE BUMP STEER.)

STEP 5: SHOCK INSTALL

  • INSTALL NEW LOWER SHOCK BRACKET ON Rear of AXLE. (REAR U-BOLT)
  • INSTALL UPPER SHOCK BRACKET AND SUPPLIED BACKING PLATE WITH BOLTS.

STEP 6: WIRING

DRILL HOLE IN FIREWALL (1 1/2”) IN THIS LOCATION: 7 ½” BELOW FACTORY HARNESS HOLE

  • ROUTE EPS WIRE HARNESS UP INNER FENDER USING SUPPLIED ZIP TIES.
  • INSTALL GROMMIT AND INSERT WIRING HARNESS.
  • INSTALL MAIN POWER AND GROUND HARNESS, MAIN POWER GOES EITHER DIRECTLY TO BATTERY OR BATTERY SIDE OF STARTER SOLENOID.
  • rUN POWER WIRE ALONG FIREWALL IN A HIGHER LOCATION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO HARNESS. GROUND WIRE GOES TO FIREWALL. SUPPLIED ADDITIONAL GROUND GOES FROM FIREWALL TO ENGINE.
  • INSTALL CONTROL MODULE INSIDE CAB, ABOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL, USING TWO SCREWS.
  • SMALL RED (KEYED ON POWER) WIRE GOES TO IGNITION SWITCH. (LOWER STUD ON BACK OF IGNITION SWITCH)

STEP 7: ALMOST DONE!

  • DOUBLE CHECK ALL Bolts ARE TIGHT AND WIRING HARNESS ARE NOT INTERFERING WITH Moving OR OTHER HARMFUL Components. (EXHaUST SHARPE EDGES)
  • REINSTALL BATTERY CABLES.
  • TURN KEY ON. LISTEN FOR MODULE TO MAKE A “CLICK” NOISE.
  • YOU NOW HAVE THE BEST POWER STEERING YOU OR YOUR PICKUP COULD EVER NEED
